Today I am starting a new daily life blog.
It's been 15 years since I started my last one and a lot has changed.
My mom died from cancer in June 2019, there was a Covid pandemic, I got let go (restructuring) from the job I had for 17 years in late 2019, my partner who I had been with since high school died in 2022. Our daughter is (obviously) older now, and a couple weeks after my partner died I found out I was pregnant with our second child. I also had to sell the beautiful house I bought after my mom died and move to the smaller house I owned in another town close by.
Needless to say, everything is really different now. It's strange. Honestly, some things are better, some things are worse. Being a single mom with a teenager and a toddler is definitely rough sometimes.
I do have help, so I am not completely alone in everything. My cousin moved back to town, my bestfriend lives 2 blocks from me, my work family is a great and caring small group of people, and I have a man who I care about deeply that I have been "with" (we aren't putting a label on it) for almost 2 years, but more seriously for about a year.
I remember when I started my Daily Life blog back in 2011. My daughter was almost a year old and I wanted to write down all the things she was doing and I guess document how life was going. My mom was able to read the blog and I think she enjoyed being able to get a glimpse into what was going on since she lived in another state. I did end up making a physical book of the blog which was pretty cool.
My life isn't terribly exciting, but it really wasn't 15 years ago and I have enjoyed reading the old blog. It really was nice to be able to relive the moments especially with my daughter being so young. I know I wont be able to capture all the things with my son that I did with my daughter, but regardless I'm sure I will enjoy reliving what I do capture years from now.
Currently my daughter is 15. She's a sophomore in high school, in honors classes, gets all A's with an occasional B. She is in theater and has been in 3 school plays and is currently going to rehearsals for the 4th. I am very proud of her. She's really a great kid.
My son is almost 3. He's a little firecracker, but can also be very sweet. We're potty training which hasn't been super successful yet.
I have 2 cats, Pancake and Flint. Flint lives outside now. Before I sold the house and moved he was an inside cat. In the old house he decided he wanted to mark his territory and peed on everything. Furniture, the floor, the walls, everything. I tried to rectify it, but nothing I did worked. When I moved I ended up throwing about 3/4 of everything away. Granted, the house I moved into was much smaller and I needed to downsize anyway. Flint has an outdoor enclosed house on the back deck that has all the amenities to be comfortable and warm. Pancake is an inside cat and I think she's happier with Flint outside. They got along, but weren't necessarily the best of friends.
I work at a seed packaging plant in Reynolds Indiana. It's a small family owned company with good people and a nice atmosphere. I've been here for 3 years, and I really like it. My coworker is semi-retired and there are some things I will have to learn once she fully retires. I hate to have her go. She's pretty awesome. I am thankful that I have a great boss. Aside from just being a great boss, shes also just a really cool person.
I used to do a lot of crafting, but I haven't for quite a while. I'm not sure exactly why, probably partly because I don't have a lot of free time.
